Some of the bears crossing a foot bridge over the Illecillewaet river. The Illecillewaet (pronounced il-uh-SIL-uh-wet) originates in the melt waters of the Illecillewaet Glacier in Glacier National Park and feeds the Columbia River. The name comes from the Stoney Indian language meaning "fast-flowing stream." The Illecillewaet is experiencing above normal flow, currently. The rapids are fierce and you don't want to have an accident and fall into the river.
